Super busy 'All Star' week...

Wow! Had a super busy week...All Star baseball games every night. My son's team is not moving ahead as they got eliminated last night. I hate to say this but I'm glad! We've been dealing with baseball since March and we need a break! And no one needs this down time more than him...what a crab he's been!! Too much of anything is NOT a good thing. It's time for summer enjoyment! I love to go to the games and watch my baby and his friends play, but we all need some time off. And fall Baseball starts in a few weeks so not much time left to relax.

Needless to say because of my busy week I wasn't able to write up a Feature Friday Post. Hopefully I'll be able to catch up and get something written for next week.

One bit of info I got from Twitter this morning...JB, the owner of a website called Indie Icing is looking for someone to take it over. She recently had some new opportunities presented to her and has decided to 'put her site up for adoption'.

You can visit her site Indie Icing and you'll see how lovely it is! If anyone is interested or if you know of anyone that might be interested please contact JB, the owner, here: indieicing{at}gmail.com .

It's an adorable site and I always loved seeing her new handmade finds! As a matter of fact, if there were even only a few more hours in a day I'd be inquiring! But...darn it...things just don't work out that way. :(

Okay! That's all for now...today is my oldest sons' 15th birthday and have to get ready for his party.

I'll be back soon when I can get some free time...

Until then...

Feature Friday - June 26, 2009

Happy Friday everyone! Here we are at the end of another crazy week. I don't know about you but the weather here in western Pa has been fabulous! Yes, it's been hot, but that's the way I like it. I was outside sanding several pieces of wood for name sign orders and I was sweating like crazy. But I didn't care. I quickly recalled all the cold winter days when I was standing out there in that exact same spot freezing to death. I told myself, 'Jane, just shut up and don't you dare complain about the heat!' So I continued on and happily soaked up the sun.

I'm trying like heck to savor these glorious summer days because they go by so quickly.

Earlier this week I finally had some free time and I decided to do some Etsy surfing. I love dragonflies and did a search for artwork featuring these colorful creatures. I looked around a bit and stumbled upon an incredible artist who creates these fabulous pieces of artwork! I loved her work immediately! I knew instantly that I wanted to feature her work so I contacted her, she agreed and...here we are! I'm so excited!

My Feature Friday artist this week is...

Wood With Heart - Shanney B Creations
http://woodwithheart.etsy.com

This step stool is the first item in her shop that I came across and immediately I was mesmerized...can you blame me??? Look how darling!!

Children's Step Stool

Then I saw this table...OMG!!! The detail is incredible...just look:

Tropical Side Table

And here's more...

Lady Bug Tea Party

Holy cow!! Just looking at these three photos gets me all worked up!! The colors...the whimsy...the warmth of every one of her items is simply overwhelming!

And I HAVE to add this...I have a few wood burned items listed for sale in my Etsy shop. Wood burning is not easy. It takes lots of skill and patience to get the designs burned. And then it takes even more time to do the painting. All I can say is this woman's work is 'outta this world'!

Please take a moment to visit her shop. Everything she creates is breathtaking!

I hope you all enjoy this week's feature...there will be more on the way! Not sure if I'll have a chance to post a feature next Friday. My brother and his family will be in town visiting so my time will be limited. But after next week everything should be back to normal.

(Well, as normal as my chaotic and nutty life can be!)

Until then take care...

Feature Friday - June 19, 2009

First of all I MUST apologize for not posting a feature last Friday. Everything was extremely hectic for me! It was the first week my kids were off from school...something I was nervous about to begin with. But it ended up that the cause of my stress wasn't the kids after all...it was the dog! She was a nutcase! Uppity all week long...nervous, panting, following me EVERYWHERE!! I was completely freaked trying to figure out what was going on with her. So dealing with that issue along with my already crazy, chaotic life just wiped me out and I didn't have any time to sit down and get my thoughts together.

But this week I have a great feature and I'm so excited to share it with you. I planned on featuring this wonderful artist a few weeks ago, but I had other artists lined up first so I had to hold off. Then finally last week her turn came. All settled and poised to learn more about her art I went to her site. I was admirng her creations and trying to decide which photos I wanted to use in my feature. But while at her website I got sidetracked. I was so intrigued with her work that I ended up shopping instead of researching and bought 2 pieces of artwork from her! I just got them in the mail yesterday and let me tell you...her work is lovely!!

You're wondering, 'Who's the artist Jane's raving about this week?'

Well...it's none other than...

DreamrKate
http://DreamrKate.etsy.com

A few weeks back I discovered Kate's work on Etsy. I immediately fell in love with her adorable porcelain houses...

They're so darn cute! Each one has it's own personality...simply adorable!

I saved her shop in my favorites and included a photo of one of her houses in a small blog feature I called 'Home Sweet Home Again'.

Along with her porcelain houses here are a few other items she's offering...colorful and whimsical...right up my alley!

Round Blue Pot

And I saw this piece with a dragonfly and thought it was pretty, too:

Fly Away Home

***I don't know why but I have this 'thing' for dragonflies...well I say I don't know why, but I have my theories...but that's another blog post for another day.***

And finally I want to share these...

So funky-lookin' with an 'outside-of-the-box' design! I liked them so much...

...I bought them! Aren't they so-o-o pretty and colorful?!?! I LOVE them both!!! The colors are fabulous and the designs are big and all over...just the way I like! Right now the blue one sits on my dining room table and the red one is on my desk. They look great and I'm so happy that I bought them!

I know if you were to take some time and click on over to DreamrKate's Etsy Shop you're bound to like her work as much as I do.

Oh...and a quick little side note...her prices are very reasonable, too! You can't beat that now can you???

Okay...I'm off to take my son to a friends house then it's back to work for me. Lots of orders to work on and others to wrap and get ready for shipping. A busy Friday for me and I'm looking forward to the weekend and some time off!

More fun things on the way...

Until then,

Feature Friday - June 5, 2009

Wow! Here we are on a Friday again! I can't believe how fast the weeks go by!

Speaking of time flying, yesterday was the last day of school for my kids. Needless to say, the next few days will be a bit harried and chaos promises to reign. But soon we'll get into a new routine and we'll enjoy a less hectic pace. I plan to soak in these warm, sunny, laid back days and make it a point to live in the moment!

Hey! Stop laughing! I can dream can't I?? Okay...let me put it this way...I'll try to live in the moment!

Meanwhile...on to my Feature Friday pick for this week...

Okay...are you ready??? Brace yourself...it's a good one! And I know first hand because I bought some of her lovely items and just got the package early this week....here we go...

My feature this week is...

My Grandpa's Pen
http://MyGrandpasPen.etsy.com

A few weeks back I stumbled upon this darling little Etsy shop and was so impressed with all of the wonderful handmade paper goods that I immediately added it to my list of favorites. Jeanine, the creative spirit behind My Grandpa's Pen, creates beautiful handmade cards for any and every occasion, whimsical chipboard albums, hang tags and more. Take a look...

Beware of Pirates Greeting Card

Baby Themed Hang or Gift Tags

Red Yellow and Green Funky Flower Chipboard Album

And finally, here's an item that's already sold...purchased by none other than ME! Regardless I just HAD to share it with you simply because I love it so much! Jeanine is located in Alberta, Canada (I'm in Pennsylvania) so my package had to ship internationally. When I placed my order just last week--June 28th to be exact--I never thought I'd have it in time to give to my husband for our anniversary...which is today, by the way :). But I was wrong...way wrong! Jeanine got the order packaged...very beautifully I might add...and I got it in just a few days. I was completely surprised by her speedy service and exceedingly delighted with her work!

Aren't they wonderful?!?! Jeanine's attention to detail is obvious and her creativity flows from one item to the next!

So take some time to hop on over to My Grandpa's Pen and take a closer look at her work...I promise you won't be disappointed!!

Okay...I need to TRY to get some things done! The chaos has ensued and I'm already distracted! Sigh...it's going to be a lo-o-o-ong few days!!

More creative finds on the way very soon...have a nice weekend and see you next time...

Until then,

Feature Friday - May 29, 2009

Good Friday morning to you all! It's that time again...I have another wonderful Feature Friday artist to share with you. This week's feature is...

da da da daaaa...

Marilyn Fegan's 'furnARTure'
http://mfeganart.etsy.com

I stumbled upon Marilyn Fegan's Etsy shop a few weeks ago using Etsy's Pounce Tool. As soon as I saw this adorable bird's nest bowl I HAD to click through to see more...

Isn't it just so darling?!?!

Look at these pieces...unbelievably colorful, creatively painted and look at the detail...

All I can say is 'incredible!'

And here's one more...

I am completely in awe of her talent...to say the least! A few years ago I sold hand painted children's furniture online so I know first hand that it is NOT easy to paint large pieces like this! You can see there are multiple corners and crevasses and a number of turns and different sections to paint. It takes incredible patience and great talent! I so-o-o-o appreciate the amount of blood, sweat and tears that went into every one of Marilyn's pieces!

Please make time to visit Marilyn Fegan's 'furnARTure'. I promise you won't be disappointed!

Meanwhile I'm so glad it's Friday! I'm heading to my friend's cottage for a couple days of fun and relaxation! I hope you all have a great weekend! I'll be back with more great finds next week...

Until then,

Feature Friday - May 22, 2009

Well, here we are on yet another beautiful Friday morning. And 'TGIF' is all I can say! It's been a very busy week for me and I'm ready for a couple of days off.

But before I move forward with my weekend plans I want to share the latest installment of my 'Feature Friday' posts. Are you ready??? I certainly hope so!

Take a look at the work of this creative soul who, most definitely, has 'a unique perspective' on things...

Fishstikks
http://fishstikks.etsy.com

Fishstikks' shop caught my eye a few weeks back when one of her adorable little houses was featured on Etsy's home page. I LOVE to find art that includes houses in any way shape or form...drawings, paintings, collage, ACEOs or whatever! (I'm certain this strange penchant stems from my history of creating house portraits. What else could it be??)

Just look at her work...isn't it fabulous?!?!

Chubby Little House Number 73

After I looked at all of her cute, chubby little houses I browsed around her shop and saw these wonderfully whimsical big eyed birds! Wow! So outside-of-the-box and charming!

Maddie and Margo - Paper Mache - Big Eye Birds

Debi, the artist and owner of Fishstikks, has more chubby little houses, a bunch of her big eyed birds, some art prints and other paper mache sculptures for sale in her shop so please don't stop looking at her work here. You must get over there right away and see how clever and whimsical her designs are.

I'm confident you'll enjoy her work so please stop by and say 'hello'! And I'm sure she wouldn't mind if you pick up a bobble...or two...or three...

Okay...I'm off to finish my daily work and get ready for a nice, long Memorial Day weekend. Enjoy!

I'll be sharing more features and other great finds soon...

Until then,

Jane

At Hands Full Creations you'll find a beautiful variety of purses, tote bags, clutches, checkbook covers, glasses cases and SO MUCH MORE!! Every item is designed and handmade by Sarah, the mastermind behind the scenes. Here are a few photos of her gorgeous work...

Feature Friday - May 8, 2009

My pick this week for 'Feature Friday' is...

...Drum roll please!!...

Acrudele's Shop

Aren't these Crochet Cacti so stinkin' cute?!?! And from an artist/crafter's point of view...'oh so clever'!!

I just love them! And she has other clever crochet items as well...crocheted pet toys, java cozies, other housewares, scarves and more!

When I contacted Acrudele about featuring her shop on my blog she informed me that sometime in May she will be participating in a giveaway on her friend WendiWinn's blog. So head on over there and take a chance at winning...it's a great way to 'sample' some of these adorable crochet items for yourself.

Meanwhile, as I wait for the giveaway to take place I'm heading over to Acrudele's Shop and browse around a bit. I'm going to visit my best friend in a few weeks for our yearly 'Girls' Weekend' and I always like to take a gift. She has 2 or 3 cats so I'm eyeing up the catnip toys. But then again I love the cactus, too. Hmmmm...which do I choose???

Sigh...decisions...decisions...why does it have to be so hard!

I'll let you know what I decide...maybe share a photo or two...

Until then...

Jane

Another quote...

...that I came across today on Twitter...

“Being happy doesn't mean that everything is perfect. It means that you've decided to look beyond the imperfections.”

Just loved that one!!

Nothing else exciting going on...just working my butt off the past few days.

I've already found a few Etsy shops that I want to feature on Friday's post...so be sure to stay tuned...

Until then,

Jane

Feature Friday - May 1, 2009

A few days ago I went over to Etsy to add a few items to my shop. When I was finished posting I decided to surf the entire site for a few minutes.

Since I have a hand painted box listed among my items I thought I'd search a bit to see where my listing shows up. I did a simple search for 'boxes' but immediately stopped when I found these gorgeous and oh so colorful hand painted boxes! The moment I saw them my A.D.D. kicked in and I was swept away and completely forgot about looking for my own listing:

http://www.floorartetc.etsy.com/
Floorart etc.

The artist who paints these sensational items is Billie Anderson from Montana.

Billie also sells beautiful handpainted canvas rugs that can also be used as wall hangings.

Please click on over to her shop...her things are just incredible...I know you won't be disappointed!

Also I want to say 'Thanks' to everyone for checking out my Feature Friday!

It's been a wonderful experience for me so far. I enjoy helping and encouraging other artists, but the added benefit for me is the wonderful people I've met along the way!

So I'll be posting my finds again next Friday...I think I might even have some picked out already!

PLUS...I'm giving serious consideration to doing these types of features more often than once a week. There's just too much talent out there...once a week simply isn't enough for me!

More postings to come...until then,

Jane :)

Feature Friday - April 24, 2009

Every Friday I post images and links to sellers' shops at Etsy. I visit Etsy and utilize a tool called Pounce. Pounce is an Etsy tool that gives you an opportunity to view undiscovered Etsy shops--shops that haven't had a sale. It also lets you choose to visit shops that had a recent sale.

Here are my picks for this week:

dboeArtGlass - Stained Glass
www.dboeartglass.etsy.com

Mexican Colors - Handmade Paintings, Crafts and Fun Jewelry
www.mexicancolors.etsy.com

The Charming Place Whimsical Folk Art by Shelley Szczucki
www.thecharmingplace.etsy.com

I just love the various styles of the artists I chose this week...their use of color is gorgeous. Simply awestruck when I visited their shops I thought they would be perfect for my Friday Feature and I couldn't wait to share them with you! Beautiful work!!

More next week!

Until then,
Jane

Paying it Forward...

I recently started selling my own original artwork on Etsy.

I'm very excited to say that today I had my first sale! I was so excited! As you know I've sold many, many things through my websites, Creative Name Signs and Images of Home for years now. But this sale at my Etsy shop, JMLArt was different...

...the artwork that I have listed on Etsy is all my own original designs. The work I sell at Creative Name Signs and Images of Home is most certainly original and all mine. :) BUT...everything I sell from those two sites is designed according to what the customer wants. They tell me the colors, the wording, the sizes, the themes, etc. The artwork that I have listed at JMLart are creations that I painted because it's what I wanted to paint...my own original designs and ideas.

So today was a happy day for me!!

Now that I made my first sale at Etsy I want to start paying it forward and help some budding artists get some exposure...here's what I plan to do...

I am going to start my own 'Feature Friday' posting. Every Friday I will post images and links to some of the new sellers shops at Etsy. I want to do this because Chocking On Static did the same thing for me last week. I was so grateful for the exposure! She found my shop by using a tool at Etsy called Pounce. Pounce is a tool that gives you an opportunity of viewing undiscovered shops--shops that haven't had a sale. Or you can view shops that just had a sale.

So I decided to check out this Pounce tool and I fell in love with it. There is so much talent out there...it's overwhelming!

What I'm going to do is visit the Pounce feature at Etsy throughout each week. I'll take note of the works of art that really catch my eye and then post an image and a link to their site.

Here are my picks for this week:

Praisin' Art

My Father's Daughter

Aren't they great!! And make sure to click the links that will take you to their shops...they both have loads of talent!

Okay...I'm going to look for more new talent and then post more next week on my own 'Feature Friday' posting!

Until then,

Jane
