Wow! Had a super busy week...All Star baseball games every night. My son's team is not moving ahead as they got eliminated last night. I hate to say this but I'm glad! We've been dealing with baseball since March and we need a break! And no one needs this down time more than him...what a crab he's been!! Too much of anything is NOT a good thing. It's time for summer enjoyment! I love to go to the games and watch my baby and his friends play, but we all need some time off. And fall Baseball starts in a few weeks so not much time left to relax.
Needless to say because of my busy week I wasn't able to write up a Feature Friday Post. Hopefully I'll be able to catch up and get something written for next week.
One bit of info I got from Twitter this morning...JB, the owner of a website called Indie Icing is looking for someone to take it over. She recently had some new opportunities presented to her and has decided to 'put her site up for adoption'.
You can visit her site Indie Icing and you'll see how lovely it is! If anyone is interested or if you know of anyone that might be interested please contact JB, the owner, here: indieicing{at}gmail.com .
It's an adorable site and I always loved seeing her new handmade finds! As a matter of fact, if there were even only a few more hours in a day I'd be inquiring! But...darn it...things just don't work out that way. :(
Okay! That's all for now...today is my oldest sons' 15th birthday and have to get ready for his party.
I'll be back soon when I can get some free time...
Until then...
Wow! Here we are on a Friday again! I can't believe how fast the weeks go by!
Speaking of time flying, yesterday was the last day of school for my kids. Needless to say, the next few days will be a bit harried and chaos promises to reign. But soon we'll get into a new routine and we'll enjoy a less hectic pace. I plan to soak in these warm, sunny, laid back days and make it a point to live in the moment!
Hey! Stop laughing! I can dream can't I?? Okay...let me put it this way...I'll try to live in the moment!
Meanwhile...on to my Feature Friday pick for this week...
Okay...are you ready??? Brace yourself...it's a good one! And I know first hand because I bought some of her lovely items and just got the package early this week....here we go...
My feature this week is...
My Grandpa's Pen
http://MyGrandpasPen.etsy.com
A few weeks back I stumbled upon this darling little Etsy shop and was so impressed with all of the wonderful handmade paper goods that I immediately added it to my list of favorites. Jeanine, the creative spirit behind My Grandpa's Pen, creates beautiful handmade cards for any and every occasion, whimsical chipboard albums, hang tags and more. Take a look...

Baby Themed Hang or Gift Tags

Red Yellow and Green Funky Flower Chipboard Album

And finally, here's an item that's already sold...purchased by none other than ME! Regardless I just HAD to share it with you simply because I love it so much! Jeanine is located in Alberta, Canada (I'm in Pennsylvania) so my package had to ship internationally. When I placed my order just last week--June 28th to be exact--I never thought I'd have it in time to give to my husband for our anniversary...which is today, by the way :). But I was wrong...way wrong! Jeanine got the order packaged...very beautifully I might add...and I got it in just a few days. I was completely surprised by her speedy service and exceedingly delighted with her work!

Aren't they wonderful?!?! Jeanine's attention to detail is obvious and her creativity flows from one item to the next!
So take some time to hop on over to My Grandpa's Pen and take a closer look at her work...I promise you won't be disappointed!!
Okay...I need to TRY to get some things done! The chaos has ensued and I'm already distracted! Sigh...it's going to be a lo-o-o-ong few days!!
More creative finds on the way very soon...have a nice weekend and see you next time...
Until then,
Well, here we are on yet another beautiful Friday morning. And 'TGIF' is all I can say! It's been a very busy week for me and I'm ready for a couple of days off.
But before I move forward with my weekend plans I want to share the latest installment of my 'Feature Friday' posts. Are you ready??? I certainly hope so!
Take a look at the work of this creative soul who, most definitely, has 'a unique perspective' on things...
Fishstikks
http://fishstikks.etsy.com
Fishstikks' shop caught my eye a few weeks back when one of her adorable little houses was featured on Etsy's home page. I LOVE to find art that includes houses in any way shape or form...drawings, paintings, collage, ACEOs or whatever! (I'm certain this strange penchant stems from my history of creating house portraits. What else could it be??)
Just look at her work...isn't it fabulous?!?!
Chubby Little House Number 73

After I looked at all of her cute, chubby little houses I browsed around her shop and saw these wonderfully whimsical big eyed birds! Wow! So outside-of-the-box and charming!
Maddie and Margo - Paper Mache - Big Eye Birds

Debi, the artist and owner of Fishstikks, has more chubby little houses, a bunch of her big eyed birds, some art prints and other paper mache sculptures for sale in her shop so please don't stop looking at her work here. You must get over there right away and see how clever and whimsical her designs are.
I'm confident you'll enjoy her work so please stop by and say 'hello'! And I'm sure she wouldn't mind if you pick up a bobble...or two...or three...
Okay...I'm off to finish my daily work and get ready for a nice, long Memorial Day weekend. Enjoy!
I'll be sharing more features and other great finds soon...
Until then,

Every item is designed and handmade by Sarah, the mastermind behind the scenes. Coupled with a love of bold colored fabrics and unique patterns Sarah also enjoys working with anything vintage. If you're a 'Bag Lady' like me you HAVE to get over there and see what she has to offer...every item is so colorful, fun, pretty and...oh yeah...useful, too!

My pick this week for 'Feature Friday' is...
...Drum roll please!!...
Acrudele's Shop

Aren't these Crochet Cacti so stinkin' cute?!?! And from an artist/crafter's point of view...'oh so clever'!!

I just love them! And she has other clever crochet items as well...crocheted pet toys, java cozies, other housewares, scarves and more!
When I contacted Acrudele about featuring her shop on my blog she informed me that sometime in May she will be participating in a giveaway on her friend WendiWinn's blog. So head on over there and take a chance at winning...it's a great way to 'sample' some of these adorable crochet items for yourself.
Meanwhile, as I wait for the giveaway to take place I'm heading over to Acrudele's Shop and browse around a bit. I'm going to visit my best friend in a few weeks for our yearly 'Girls' Weekend' and I always like to take a gift. She has 2 or 3 cats so I'm eyeing up the catnip toys. But then again I love the cactus, too. Hmmmm...which do I choose???
Sigh...decisions...decisions...why does it have to be so hard!
I'll let you know what I decide...maybe share a photo or two...
Until then...

...that I came across today on Twitter...
“Being happy doesn't mean that everything is perfect. It means that you've decided to look beyond the imperfections.”
Just loved that one!!
Nothing else exciting going on...just working my butt off the past few days.
I've already found a few Etsy shops that I want to feature on Friday's post...so be sure to stay tuned...
Until then,
Jane
A few days ago I went over to Etsy to add a few items to my shop. When I was finished posting I decided to surf the entire site for a few minutes.
Since I have a hand painted box listed among my items I thought I'd search a bit to see where my listing shows up. I did a simple search for 'boxes' but immediately stopped when I found these gorgeous and oh so colorful hand painted boxes! The moment I saw them my A.D.D. kicked in and I was swept away and completely forgot about looking for my own listing:

Floorart etc.
The artist who paints these sensational items is Billie Anderson from Montana.
Billie also sells beautiful handpainted canvas rugs that can also be used as wall hangings.
Please click on over to her shop...her things are just incredible...I know you won't be disappointed!
Also I want to say 'Thanks' to everyone for checking out my Feature Friday!
It's been a wonderful experience for me so far. I enjoy helping and encouraging other artists, but the added benefit for me is the wonderful people I've met along the way!
So I'll be posting my finds again next Friday...I think I might even have some picked out already!
PLUS...I'm giving serious consideration to doing these types of features more often than once a week. There's just too much talent out there...once a week simply isn't enough for me!
More postings to come...until then,
Jane :)
I recently started selling my own original artwork on Etsy.
I'm very excited to say that today I had my first sale! I was so excited! As you know I've sold many, many things through my websites, Creative Name Signs and Images of Home for years now. But this sale at my Etsy shop, JMLArt was different...
...the artwork that I have listed on Etsy is all my own original designs. The work I sell at Creative Name Signs and Images of Home is most certainly original and all mine. :) BUT...everything I sell from those two sites is designed according to what the customer wants. They tell me the colors, the wording, the sizes, the themes, etc. The artwork that I have listed at JMLart are creations that I painted because it's what I wanted to paint...my own original designs and ideas.
So today was a happy day for me!!
Now that I made my first sale at Etsy I want to start paying it forward and help some budding artists get some exposure...here's what I plan to do...
I am going to start my own 'Feature Friday' posting. Every Friday I will post images and links to some of the new sellers shops at Etsy. I want to do this because Chocking On Static did the same thing for me last week. I was so grateful for the exposure! She found my shop by using a tool at Etsy called Pounce. Pounce is a tool that gives you an opportunity of viewing undiscovered shops--shops that haven't had a sale. Or you can view shops that just had a sale.
So I decided to check out this Pounce tool and I fell in love with it. There is so much talent out there...it's overwhelming!
What I'm going to do is visit the Pounce feature at Etsy throughout each week. I'll take note of the works of art that really catch my eye and then post an image and a link to their site.
Here are my picks for this week:

Praisin' Art

My Father's Daughter
Aren't they great!! And make sure to click the links that will take you to their shops...they both have loads of talent!
Okay...I'm going to look for more new talent and then post more next week on my own 'Feature Friday' posting!
Until then,
Jane
