Watercolor Fun!

I've been painting for years and almost always painted with acrylic paints. I love acrylics, but recently had a hankering to try to paint with watercolor paints.

I had quite a few tablets of heavyweight watercolor paper on hand so I grabbed my watercolor paints and went to town.

I'm so glad I gave it a whirl...I sincerely enjoy painting with this medium. I hope to find time in my days to paint a little something in watercolors just to be different and expand my skills.

Here are a couple that I painted this past week:

I have the elephant for sale in My Etsy Shop. I haven't listed the other one yet, but hope to get to it next week.

Meanwhile, I have to get to work cleaning! Tomorrow is Easter Sunday and we are entertaining the family at our house and it's simply a mess!

My first attempt at collage...

I was intimidated by collage and never had any desire to even give it a try. But recently I was invited to join this really 'kewl' and 'outside of the box' team on Etsy and the wonderful team members inspired me to give it a try...

My First ETSY Treasury - Purple Passion Day

I had so much fun...I created my very first Etsy treasury! I was in the mood for exploring Etsy for some purple artworks this afternoon so I decided to call it 'Purple Passion Day'.

All of the artists are members of the Etsy Ugly Cute Team. Here's a photo...

We went to mass this morning and since it's Lent the altar is draped in a lot of dark purple. So that must have put me in the mood for one of my favorite colors. Plus I have a paint color called Passion Purple and it's very similar to the colors they use in the church...hence the name of my treasury!

Okay...now I plan to chill out for a bit...

My New Etsy Shop

Well, I talked about my new Etsy shop over the last few days and I've been working on listing new items in it. So here it is...

I have an existing Etsy Shop - JMLArt - but I decided I will close that shop down in the near future. The only reason I am closing it is because I wanted to change the shop name. I am also in the process of building a new website from which I plan to sell all of my artwork. As it is I have two existing websites, an Etsy shop (now two of them), a blog, a Twitter and so on. It's just so overwhelming to try and promote everything and I basically want to streamline all of my work onto the one website. Then I can promote the website and the Etsy shop all which will have the same name.

As for my personal life...well...

As many of you know I have had a very hard year. In 2010 my sister-in-law passed away very suddenly, my mom was declining from Alzheimer's then passed away. While my mom was dying my mother-in-law became ill. Then right after the new year my husband was very sick and hospitalized.

It was just unbelievably insane.

All of the upheaval led me to realize I need to 'TRIM the FAT' from my life. I don't want to spread myself out so much nor do I need to.

I basically just want PEACE!!

So here we go...onto...HOPEFULLY...better days! I'm keeping my fingers crossed!
