Here's my contribution...
"As mom's memory faded I discovered a craziness in my own mind."
This is a photo of a wood burning I created a few years ago right after my mom was diagnosed with 'mild cognitive impairment'...the doctor's polite way of saying, "Your mom has dementia."
I was completely overwhelmed with how I would handle every aspect of her decline. If you look closely there are two sets of eyes--one set my mom's, the other set mine. If you have ever loved someone with this horrible disease you notice how their eyes change. As their mind goes the eyes become vacant...faded. You wonder where your loved one has gone. It's simply horrible and I am forever changed because of it.
